The National Indigenous Arts & Cultural Authority acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and pays its respect to their Elders past and present.
The words ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’, ‘First Nations’ and ‘Indigenous’ are used interchangeably on this website to refer to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia, and their arts and cultures. We understand that some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are not comfortable with some of these words. Only respect is meant when these words are used.
The title ‘National Indigenous Arts and Cultural Authority (NIACA)’ is intended as a working title to identify the scope of such an organisation’s role.
